Zilker Botanical Garden: Austin Tx

I took an afternoon off work for a change of scenery. What a wonderful place to get away to. The weather was on my side and I had a beautiful sunny day with warm temperatures. It was also exciting to find so many colorful subjects waiting for me!

Nature at work all around me....(even a cabbage patch), and where nature wasn't active we had the man-made versions to enjoy: the butterfly benches. These are the first ones I ever saw, but now I find they are popping up at different parks and street corners. My grandmother always called me her "butterfly", so anything relating to butterflies is special to me. Then again, I don't know anyone who isn't fascinated by their complexity, grace and beauty!

Journey with John

Well...I finally get to post the reciprocal shot to the one John posted! ha ha ha! We had so much fun this day even tho it was a dreary, grey, cold day. And we didn't forget our good friend Norma (who was sick and didn't get to join us.....)...the second shot we took as a momento shot from a prior trip the 3 of us took...remember Norma?
1. Anyway...a common site if you ever go on a field trip with John
2. Norma: not here but never forgotten!
3. Winter colors of cacti
4. Barnacles: for all of you who have never felt their bite! Razor sharp.

House Critters

I finally got some fairly decent shots of the babies here at the house. My sweet lab, Gracie, and her fav toy (it used to be a knotted rope) to carry around. Cassie May, grey tabby, and her son Findley (the ferocious!). As is typical of mamma cats, Cassie casually tolerates the "kids". But Gracie and Findley have become really good buddies over the last year. I love to watch them play.
